THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

From Volkswagens to Fair Value at Art Parties

Before the Armory Show, Two Other Art Shows Open

By Rebecca Bratburd

A building that was once a schoolhouse on Prince Street is now covered top to bottom with hundreds of works of art for the third edition of the Spring/Break Art Show.

Forty curators ran with the fair's theme, PublicPrivate, focusing on "the high visibility of the self in the 21st century," particularly as it relates to technology and social media.

One floor up, as part of her piece "Luminous Objects," Lia Chavez meditates with her eyes closed in a white gown that reaches to the door of the former classroom where her work is on display. She is surrounded by her calligraphic drawings.
